What our team say.

Reviews our staff have posted publicly on Indeed, in their own words.

What they mention most

  • General feeling of work happiness
  • Support from manager
  • Ability to meet personal goals
  • “The team is great, the environment to work in is amazing, and there’s so much support given to new employees. I have never walked into a job where, after the first week, I feel like I’ve been here forever. The most enjoyable part is seeing the goals that our young person achieves.”

    Team leaderPosted on Indeed.com

  • “Worked for the company for over two years. Very much enjoyed my work, and it’s a fantastic family-like environment to work in. Always been paid correctly and on time, rotas given a month in advance, good work/life balance.”

    Senior support workerPosted on Indeed.com

  • “I have worked at Guidance Care for over four years. I have been supported by management and have also been able to put across ideas for the company and expand my own ambitions. Like any place of work there are sometimes challenges, but I have always felt supported.”

    Registered managerPosted on Indeed.com

  • “My manager has supported me fully throughout starting with the company and is always there to help if I have any questions. All the staff have been really helpful and supportive too, and there are always training sessions on to further our learning.”

    Residential support workerPosted on Indeed.com

  • “No such thing as two days the same. My manager is very supportive of staff’s mental and physical wellbeing and career goals. She will help you achieve where you want to get to, and will go the extra mile - not only for the staff but young people too.”

    Support workerPosted on Indeed.com

  • “Only been in the care sector since May 2023, and this is the third company I have worked for - it’s the best by a country mile. Management are approachable about any subject. Staff are great to work with as well. Great homely feel working here.”

    Residential support workerPosted on Indeed.com

  • “I have worked in the social care sector for over 13 years, and have been with Guidance Care for just under four. It is a pleasure to work with a highly skilled workforce who are passionate in their role, providing our young people with a safe, loving home in which to flourish.”

    ManagerPosted on Indeed.com

  • “Welcoming, with training provided to a high standard, and plenty of opportunities to learn and develop. The role itself is great: working with children who have been through a lot and need stable, loving role models in their life.”

    Deputy managerPosted on Indeed.com

  • “I was made to feel welcome from the start. The directors are hands on and fair in their decisions, and I feel they genuinely care for their staff and the young people they are looking after. They look for the talent in people and promote from within.”

    Office administratorPosted on Indeed.com

  • “Working with children in a residential care setting is a vocation, not just a career. No day is the same, the work is exciting and rewarding, and the training is all encompassing.”

Where we advertise

We advertise our live roles on Indeed. When we are recruiting, the current openings are listed there.

We are a friendly team, and you can follow us on Facebook and LinkedIn for jobs and news.

Pay, hours and what a role asks of you.

Read this before you fill anything in. You should not have to complete an application to find out what a job pays.

Each of the things below is set by the individual role and the home it sits in, so there is no single figure that would be true of all of them. What we can promise is where you will find the figure: every role we advertise states its own terms, and we confirm them in writing before you are asked to commit to anything.

We do not advertise a “competitive salary”. If a rate is not in front of you, ask us for it and we will tell you.

What every advertised role tells you

  • The pay, as a rate or a range, with the unit it is paid in
  • Contracted hours
  • The shift pattern and how the rota works
  • Whether sleep-ins are required, and roughly how often
  • What a sleep-in pays
  • Whether the role covers waking nights, and how those are arranged
  • Any enhancement for weekends, bank holidays or overtime
  • Benefits, and which qualifications we fund

If any of those is missing from something you are looking at, that is our mistake and worth telling us about. Email hr@guidancecare.co.uk or call 01253 530008, 9am–5pm Monday to Friday.

Where the job can go

Our residential care route runs Support Worker → Senior → Deputy → Manager. People move along it here, and we would rather promote someone who already knows the children than recruit a stranger into a senior post.

  1. Support Worker - everyday care and relationships.
  2. Senior - shift leadership and supporting less experienced colleagues.
  3. Deputy - deputising for the manager and sharing responsibility for the home.
  4. Manager - registered responsibility for the home, its team and the quality of care.

Starting with us

Feeling at ease from the start.

Joining a new team is a big step. Here is how one new starter described the support they received during induction.

“I am also settling in brilliantly! … she has made the induction process so smooth and plain sailing, she’s made me feel at ease so much”

  • A full application form

Our online form takes you through 12 steps. You can choose to save a draft on your private device for seven days.

  • Before you start

Have your employment and education dates, qualifications and referees’ contact details ready. Explain any gaps; if something does not apply, follow the form’s N/A guidance.

  • Safer recruitment

  • What happens next

HR reviews applications against opportunities across our homes. Contact the team to discuss a particular role or ask about your application.

Work that matters.

Our teams are the heart of every home.

We look for people who bring patience, warmth and consistency - and we back them with real support, development and a culture that takes their wellbeing as seriously as the young people’s.

  • Meaningful, hands-on work with young people
  • Supportive teams and experienced leadership
  • Training and progression in residential childcare
  • Regular supervision, reflective practice and appraisal

Training and retention

Our aim is to train our staff and to keep them. We would rather invest in someone’s qualification, supervision and progression than replace them, because a young person’s care depends on the same familiar faces being there next month, and next year. Every member of staff is supported to build their training and move forward in their career with us.

Questions about working with us.

If you want to talk a role through before you apply, or you are part-way through the application form and something is unclear, our HR team is here 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
